Market day shoppers in Axminster will continue to have the opportunity of resting weary legs in the Minster at lunchtime during September.

Each Thursday the excellent series of concerts, given mostly by local musicians, will provide half an hour of calm and restoration of the spirits. And what a feast of music they have provided over the summer season with one of the most popular series in their 24 years of existence.

Pianist Duncan Honeybourne returns on September 4, to give one of his excellent recitals, and, on September 11, there will be an opportunity to enjoy worldwide music played by the unusual duo of violin and accordion. Performing will be Holly Chapman, also making a return appearance, and Ivor Hyde.

Another unusual combination, of saxophone and guitar, can be heard on September 18, when what is described as 'exciting music' will played by Alison Young and Nick Bays.

For the final concert, on September 25, there will be no less than nine performers on stage making up the Woodbury Wind Nonet. They are due to make a 'Musical Tour of Europe' which the audience can join without moving from their seats.

All the concerts, which begin at 12.30pm, are free but a donation towards the upkeep of the Minster is requested. A light lunch is available following each concert when, again, a donation is requested.
