Honiton to welcome The Worry Dolls and Jake Morrell

Two fabulous acts will be performing at The Beehive this weekend with The Worry Dolls and their special guest – Jake Morrell.

With cabaret seating and a cosy feel, this’ll be a special evening of multi-instrumental talent some real harmonious heartbreakers and some great country numbers.

Jake Morrell could have come straight out of Nashville, or even from the Californian sunshine, as his music suggests; but Jake is from Norfolk, England!

Jake was ‘discovered’ by Dermot O’Leary, who featured him on his Radio 2 Show.

His song entitled ‘Wire and Thorns’ reached No.2 in the iTunes country charts on the first day of release.

This led to Jake being invited to perform at this year’s Country 2 Country festival, where he premiered his first major single, the appropriately titled ‘Englishman (Trying to Write a Country Song)’ – written with the Grammy-winning writer/producer Kipper.

The reaction to the song put Jake firmly in line as one of the country’s favourite new male artists in the genre.

AMA UK Song of the Year nominees Worry Dolls are an exciting trio born out of the joint talents of multi-instrumentalists Zoe and Rosie, whose debut album Go Get Gone was produced and released in Nashville in 2017 to great acclaim.

Many will have seen the Worry Dolls supporting Joan Armatrading on tour, or may have heard their songs played on Radio 2 and BBC6 Music.

Their bond was created through their fiery locks, but developed through creating music which is characterised by sublime harmonies, and tongue-in-cheek, honest lyrics

BBC Radio 2’s Bob Harris is reported to have said: “Worry Dolls combine a great sensibility of American Country music with their own English folk influences to create a warm and infectious sound.

“It’s no secret that we think Worry Dolls are pretty special.”

The two acts will be performing on Saturday, November 24, 8pm, at The Beehive.
