ST MICHAEL'S Church in Axmouth will be hosting a top folk group as part of Villages in Action.

Uiscedwr (ish-ka-dooer) is widely acclaimed as one of Britain's most exciting new bands.

Their freshness, innovation, charm and sheer joy of playing has brought them a long way in a short time.

With tight arrangements and boundless energy, Uiscedwr are quite exceptional.

Uiscedwr was formed when Welsh fiddler Anna Esslemont met Irish percussionist Cormac Byrne.

Their third member was Kevin Dempsey, legendary guitarist, formerly with Lazarus, Swarbs and Whippersnapper.

They now have with them the awesomely talented James Hickman on guitar and vocals, due to the current ill-health of Kevin Dempsey.

Described by BBC Radio 2 as 'effortlessly epic', this band is a must-see.

This is a rare opportunity to catch the exciting rhythms and haunting melodies played by group.

They will be playing at St Michael's Church, Axmouth, on Saturday, February 16, at 7.30pm.

Tickets, costing £6 and £5 for concessions, can be obtained by calling (01297) 20670.
