Chardstock Street Fayre Committee is hosting an Open Air Family Concert featuring the Wessex Big Band and Guest Vocalists at Chardstock Park and Community Hall.
The Wessex Big Band will be performing music from the ’30s, ’40’s and ’50s – Glenn Miller, Count Basie and more.
A 20-piece Big Band, boasting a wealth of local musical talent, will be supported by a number of guest vocalists, and there will be a barbecue to satisfy your appetites.
Guest vocalists include the likes of Stevie Brown (runner up in the 2009 Open Mic UK), and Silvey Webber - both are revious winners of Chard’s Got Talent!
With half a dozen guest vocalists appearing, there will be some beautiful voices to hear, enhancing the fantastic music of the talented Wessex Big Band.
A Spokesman said: “There will be chairs and deckchairs available to lounge in, but you are welcome to bring your own picnic rug or chairs. Maybe bring an umbrella too, just in case, this is England after all!! Bring your own drinks but soft drinks are available.”
In the event of extreme weather, the concert will relocate inside.
It is set to take place on Saturday, June 26, with gates opening at 7pm. Tickets are on sale now, £5 for Adults, Under 16s free, from Chardstock Post Office & Stores.
If you would like further information, call (01460) 261141.
The night is raising funds for this year’s Chardstock Street Fayre, which will take place on Saturday, September 4.
It is hugely fitting that this event takes place at the Chardstock Park, as the Chardstock Park Trust was selected as the main beneficiary this year, as it begins its rejuvenation of the park.
