Children and young people will play a prominent role in the June schedule of Axminster's Music at the Minster series of lunchtime concerts.

On June 19, children from St Mary's Catholic School, directed by Angela Drake, will take the audience through their year in music, and on June 26, young musicians Keir and Safier Lewis, Jacob Clode, and others will perform with Colyton church organist Nicholas Brown in charge.

Earlier in the month, on June 5, three well established local musicians, Anna Cockcroft (violin), Ruth Lass (cello), and Joyce Clarke (piano) take the stage as the Beacon Piano Trio, and the following week it is something different when the a capella vocal group, Wessex Women, directed by Pella Tromans, sing their own arrangements of folksongs from around the world.

All these concerts in the Minster take place on Thursdays, at 12.30pm and last for just half an hour, followed by lunch at five past one. Admission is free but donations are appreciated, similarly for those taking lunch. All profits go towards the upkeep of the Minster building.
