NEW tenants are being sought for a Devon freehouse pub that closed suddenly last November.

Experienced food focused publicans are being sought by property consultants Vickery Holman to re-open the Five Bells, in Clyst Hydon.

This is the second time the village has nearly lost its popular pub, with the locals mounting a tireless ‘Save our Pub’ campaign back in 2016.

At the time, the pub was on the verge of being sold to a developer and there are fears that this could happen again.

However, the private owners are keen that the Five Bells is reopened as a pub and have instructed Vickery Holman to find new tenants with the intention of being open again by Easter 2023.

The Five Bells is a classic Devon inn and features a characterful bar with plenty of breakout dining areas and fantastic gardens for customers to enjoy.

There is a large customer car park and three bedroom accommodation.

Michael Easton, head of hospitality at Vickery Holman, said: "We are keen to hear from food orientated operators and particularly those who strive to use local suppliers and sustainable trading processes.

"Our clients are looking to secure the long term future for the Five Bells and willing to work with tenants in order to achieve this.

"Whilst currently closed, it has been a successful business in the past and ticks all the boxes for a traditional destination venue."

The Five Bells is available on a new 10-year lease with a guide rent of £30,000 per annum.
